PISA 2012

In the PISA 2012 study, DIPF was involved in a number of ways both nationally and internationally.


Together with the TUM School of Education in Munich and the Leibniz Institute for Science and Mathematics Education at Kiel University (Leibniz-Institut für die Pädagogik der Naturwissenschaften und Mathematik – IPN), DIPF published the national report for Germany. DIPF researchers were co-responsible for two of its chapters.

Furthermore, Professor Dr. Eckhard Klieme from DIPF chaired the international Questionnaire Expert Group commissioned by the OECD.

The DIPF unit Technology Based Assessment (TBA) conducted a national add-on study investigating the practicability of computer based assessment (CBA) in the context of PISA studies.

National project management lay with the Centre for International Student Assessment (Zentrum für Internationale Bildungsvergleichsstudien) and was led by the TUM School of Education.

Questionnaire Expert Group

Professor Dr. Eckhard Klieme acted as chairperson of the Questionnaire Expert Group for PISA 2012.

In addition to the standard tests, two optional tests could be employed in PISA 2012. These assessed the use of information and communication technology and the educational pathways of fifteen-year old students. They were developed by the Centre for Technology Based Assessment at DIPF, which thus contributed its expertise in the field of computer-based test methods to the study.
